CLARDS were developed by Minnesota mom and entrepreneur, Carla Scholz, who first created Soak it Up Cloths a line of clever, compostable, natural cleaning cloths made from European sponge cloth.
From her passion to help consumers reduce waste, Carla noticed the serious habit many of us have —using (and wasting) paper towels. After doing some research she discovered that the global spending on paper towels for use at home added up to nearly $12 billion in 2017, and Americans accounted for about $5.7 billion of that total. In other words, the U.S. spends nearly as much on paper towels as every other country in the world combined.
With a mission to help reduce the habitual use of paper towels, she started thinking of other uses for the European sponge cloth.
Why not use sponge cloth to make greeting cards? And CLARDS were born.
